The CherryOS Saga Continues

Another “release” from CherryOS. What a load of bollocks. Have a read at their latest attempt at software while continuing to flaunt the GPL.

UK Financial Year End

Life in London 1 Comment »

Working for a financial company in London, year end is predicably a crunch-time for me. Accounts need to be generated and our systems need to roll-over for the new financial year. So I am working some long hours which I am quite enjoying. I actually enjoy the 7 hours after work I am doing more than the 8 hours at work as they are quieter and more work gets done.

Finally set up a VPN to connect to work so I have a nice connection directly into the office. A little slower than normal but workable which makes my life a ton easier. Literally, one metric ton easier :)

On a side note, my iRiver arrives soon which is a toy to play with. Finally some entertainment on the way to work. Luckily my trip is only 45mins compared to Nick Swan’s which is a little longer. I don’t have to get up at 6:30 :P

Well, I am off. Reports to generate, accounts to balance and small rabbits to hunt.

Great Easter!

What a great Easter/Bank Holiday it was. From going up to Brighton, to playing squash to playing with the aerobie, it was an all-round great weekend. I just uploaded some photos and hopefully some video, which includes a great fall by yours truly catching the aerobie, once I get a firewire cable.

The Daily Commute

Podcasting 3 Comments »

One of the best uses of podcasting ever. The Daily Commute allows you to create your own personal podcast of news sources such as the BBC, Slashdot and Yahoo.

From their website:

What is The Daily Commute?

Imagine waking up in the morning, grabbing your mp3 player, and on the way to work, listening to people read a personalized set of news headlines, the sources of which you can pick yourself from popular websites like SlashDot, Wired, CNet, or the BBC.

The Daily Commute is just that: a continuous podcast of news headlines and summaries read around the clock.

The Insanity of being a Blogger

IT Chapters 2 Comments »

How crazy would you like I am if I said that someone has been strip-searched and banned from the USA for stating their occupation was a blogger. A great man Jeremy Wright from Ensight.org has this exact thingy happen to him when he attempted to enter the country.

This is beyond insanity. The immigration officials should be ashamed of themselves for treating anyone like this because of their stated occupation. Jeremy is lying low about details which is understandable but hopefully this isn’t the last we hear about it.

Spring is here!
