Offsite Backups
IT Chapters April 1st, 2007After spending ages deciding on a solution (including using own server, DVDs) I have finally settled on Mozy as the provider.
For the equivalent of £2.50 per month I’m getting unlimited backups and restores with ZERO limits. I couldn’t find another provider with anywhere close to the facilities that Mozy provides. With this service includes 30 days worth of history so you will still be able to retrieve files that you overwrote.
I’m busy uploading 30GB at the moment and I’m getting around 45KB/s on my line which has a max of 60KB/s so the latency to their servers in the US isn’t bad at all.
I’ll post on my experiences once I’ve played with the system a bit. I bought the month/month package so that if it doesn’t work out I don’t lose much.

What do I do with them once they’re burnt? Also, how do I update the collection in a good manner. My files change too often to do this via DVD and have a current set of backups.
