Vista Squad Videos

Vista Squad 1 Comment »

Ian Smith has been an absolute king when it comes to documenting the Vista Squad meetings.  Dragging his equipment around London means we as a usergroup get amazing content to show users who could not make it to the meetups.

We’re now seeing a good set of content from our speakers and are available completely free and you are even able to download the WMVs if you would prefer to watch them offline or on another device.

Coming soon will be IPhone compatible videos which after seeing a sample on Ian’s phone, I cannot wait for this to happen.

So head on over to our Vimeo site where we host the videos, and download away!

Vista Squad - A New Hope

IT Chapters, Vista Squad No Comments »

Thanks to everyone that popped on over to Vista Squad last night in Victoria. Damn good turnout and I think it all went pretty well. We managed to give out our copy of Vista and I definitely think I’ll pull out some of the Technet Plus subscriptions for next time.

Hope to see you all next time, 18th of June is the next meetup. Keep a check on the website for the full details and speaker confirmation. We definitely have Stephen Lamb booked in for one of the talks but are still looking for the developer slot. So if you’re interested, have some interesting tech you’ve been playing around with, drop us an email or comment and we can get talking.

Cheers!

Tomorrow’s Speaking Engagement

I’m speaking at tomorrow’s Vista Squad meeting in London at the Microsoft offices in Victoria.  I’ll be giving a talk on Vista Tips and Tricks.  Even though Vista has been out for quite a while, there are a lot of settings and options that some users might not know about and I hope to cover these tomorrow.

Hopefully the audience won’t know all of them as the user group does seem to have quite a large number of power-users.

If you’re in the area tomorrow night, head on over, you’re more than welcome.  More details here.

Break is over, I’ve now moved into my new house, internet is in, all is looking good. Expect some good technical posts coming up shortly. I have some great ideas for this year.

If you’re available for the 31st of this month, we’re having the next Vista Squad meeting at TVP. Head on over here to join in.

I’ve just got round to upload the interviews that Ravi and I did at the last Vista Squad meeting. Some pretty funny content in there and we might just do them again next time.

Vista Squad 3.5 Rundown

One word: Great!

Hosted at the new Microsoft building in Victoria, London, Vista Squad had an amazing meeting with a great turnout.  Stephen Lamb kicked us off with a discussion on security in Windows Vista which sparked some interesting discussion.

Following some food and some interviews by the Vista TV guys (yes, I know I’m one of them) we headed back in for a great display of what WPF and Silverlight can do by Richard Godfrey and Paul Class from iPrinciples.  Pretty amazing use of the technology stack.

I really do think the user group hit a turning point at that meeting.  We had a good and enthusiastic turnout and everyone really was engaged during the meeting.  Lets hope the rest of our meetings are of this quality!

Thanks again to the presenters for their time, Microsoft for providing the venue and refreshments and to our fantastic members who made for a memorable evening.
