Had Enough - Goodbye Zooomr

The title of this post says it all. Zooomr, I have been so patient with you, since the beginning through all the downtime, through the absolute mess that the upgrade to Mark III was. I’ve been patient to the features that have been promised and promised and the features that are missing from Mark III even though they were part of Mark II.

But I see your business plans have changed. This has been definitely been because of outside forces and I don’t blame you and this is why I’m only mentioning Zooomr and not any of the people involved. Why can’t we post photos to groups? Why does the map section not work properly? Why does the Inbox not work?

I’m still gobsmacked over the Mark III upgrade fiasco. That was the hardest time to stay on Zooomr’s side with the amateur show that seemed to be playing out. But I still stayed on, believing that Zooomr would become the site that was promised. Today however, I have reached the end and I’ve given up believing that Zooomr can become what it promised to be.

The photos I have up there will stay as long as Zooomr exists. I won’t be uploading any further photos and will be moving the photos on my Sumatro photoblog from being hosted to Flickr. Its there that I feel its the best place to be.

Good luck Zooomr, you have all my best wishes. Unfortunately it seems in this instance it seems that paying for Flickr is better than free with Zooomr. I suppose I can always ask for my money back. ;)

Photoblog Update

I’ve been a little slack on the Sumatro front. Its not from a lack of photos as I’ve taken around 500 in over the festive season. The time that I’ve needed for the post-processing just hasn’t been there for the taking so the photos have been sitting in the queue.

I’ve processed around 100 tonight, so expect some more updates. I’ve updated Sumatro with a new photo but as usual my Zooomr page will have the latest photos before Sumatro does.

Post New Year

Happy New Year everybody. 2006 was a “different” year for me, one that had loads of experiences, some I would want to do again (getting married) others not so much. I hope everyone has a great year; 2007 has great potential!

I’ve uploaded some new photos that I took the last couple of days to Zooomr, click on the photo below to see some more. I have a set from Dover coming, I just need to get round to process them.

Sometimes I feel pretty small

The Power of Community

Since I’ve joined Zooomr and taken photography a little more seriously (but still enjoying it a massive amount), its amazing the power of community. The days that I’ve taken photos and come back and deleted most if not all of them, the comments from the Zooomr community has really made the difference. The positivity from the people have really allowed me to get through the dark times where no shot seems to work well and it all seems worthless. After a quick look through what Zooomr have done, really does lift the spirits.

Thomas and Kristopher, keep up the great work and well done on helping this community foster. :)
